Southern Security Expands Field of Membership to Additional Underserved Communities in the Mid-South

Southern Security Federal Credit Union has expanded its field of membership to underserved portions of the Mid-South, including a larger portion of Memphis and an additional 18 counties in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Southern Security partnered with Dollar Associates, LLC, to expand the field of membership. The goal of the credit union’s expansion into these additional areas is to provide a wide array of affordable financial products and services and financial education resources to residents, organizations, and businesses in the areas. Credit union members typically take advantage of lower rates on loans, better rates of interest earned for savings accounts, lower fees for services, and access to educational resources through their partner credit unions. Southern Security believes its products and services paired with its outstanding record of member service and education, will positively impact the lives of additional prospective members and underserved area residents who, before now, would not have been eligible to join the credit union.

In some instances, the whole county is not included; however, underserved areas of the county are included. A total of 296 census tracts were added, with an estimated potential membership of 1,104,749.
